Making Good Men Better

About the Southern Division:

The Provincial Grand Lodge Southern Division was established in 1863, after a request by Sir Christoffel Brand , where he requested permission of the Grand Lodge of the Netherlands to re-establish the Provincial Grand Lodge to assist him with administration and control of the Netherlandic Lodges in South Africa. Oloff John Truter was the first Provincial Grand Master. At this time the Provincial Grand Master was given the title Right Worshipful Master and the Provincial Grand Logde Offovers the title Very Worshipful.

Under Brand and Truter the various new lodges were established and Freemasonry expanded in the Souhern Division. The Southern Divison grew from strength to strength. The Lodges were attended by all persons on life including politicians , doctors and lawyers, many appointed as Provincial Grand Masters of the Southern Division. Since 1863 there have been numerous Provincial Grand Masters supporting its growth and promotion of Freemasonry in general. The Lodges in the Southern Divsion compormise Lodge De Goede Hoop, Lodge de Goude Trouw, Lodge Westerford,Lodge Hiram, Lodge Jacob De Mist, Lodge Marina, Lodge Perseverance and Lodge De Goede Verwachting.

The Southern Division is active in promoting Freemasonry and holds a Spring Ball in September each year to raise not only funds for charity but to celebrate its existence in the Southern Division. The current Provincial Grand Master is RW Bro Raymond Yosimbom Eyomen. The APGM's in the diviison are WB Frank Begot, WB Malcolm Gessler, and WB Marco Petronio. The Southern Divsion is set to grow as a light for Freemasonry for years to come.
